Lining Up Tracks/ freeform track moving

hello. i guess this is both my welcome post and my first question.

im using my tascam ps414 to record to tape, and while i always could just record the tracks mixed directly to my win 7 x64 machine in one track, i wanted to record each track individually. Now some of the tracks haven't lined up properly as they should. I've tried looking for a freeform/move tool but cant seem to find it. what is the best way for me to line up all the tracks so that they are in sync, or should i just mix the track on the tascam 414 and then record again into audacity. OR could i export each single track to audio format (i.e. mp3) and use another program like cakewalk that allows free form/moving among tracks?

thanks for your help in advance

Audacity 1.3 has the Time Shift Tool. Two black sideways arrows in the tool chest at the top of the work window. You can select one track and push it earlier and later.

Never do production in MP3. MP3 is a delivery format. It has trouble maintaining critical music note timing and the compression (which you can't stop) causes progressively more severe sound damage as you go.

WAV is good.
