Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: How to put an Audacity recording into Windows Movie Make
I am going to assume that you have gotten to the point of having some audio recorded (or imported) that you wish to add to your movie.
Before doing anything else you should save both a WAV (a lossless uncompressed) file of your raw recording (for details look in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Export ) and then an Audacity Project (for details look in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Saving ).
Now make any edits you need (Amplify, Fade-in, Fade-out etc.) If you are making a lot of changes save a new copy with a different name--use menu File > Save Project As... from time to time (this will give you incremental backups on disk).
When you are happy with all your edits, make a final Save Project As under a new name; as a result I might have something like:
tuneRaw.aup
tune1.aup
tune2.aup
[...]
tuneFinal.aup
tuneRaw.wav
Since you may not use an Audacity Project in a Windows Movie Maker file you must export you audio (menu File > Export... ) which will bring up the export dialog (for details look in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/File_Export_Dialog ). I use Windows Live Movie Maker -- it may differ from your version -- it allows many audio formats but for simplicities sake save your tune as a WAV:
tuneFinal.wav
After creating your video in Windows Movie Maker import your new tuneFinal.wav as usual.

One note, Windows Movie Maker will only work with 16 bit WAV files or MP3's for audio (there may be others but I haven't used them). It won't open a 24 or 32 bit WAV at least on the XP version.
