Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Mic/Stero mix input

Post by mybigoldies » Tue May 10, 2011 11:10 pm

The input selector on the toolbar that toggles between mic and stero mix input has a tendency to disappear between sessions. Sometimes it's there sometimes it's not. Any suggestions?

The recording source for Audacity is the Windows Control Panels, not anything Audacity is doing. If you got the Audacity services to work, it was by accident. Both do have to match, though. If you change any of the Audacity Preferences, you should restart Audacity to make sure the new settings stick.

It is very common for modern versions of Windows to hide any inputs that are not currently being used. If the input is hidden by Windows, then Audacity will probably not be able to see it. Always ensure that you have an active and not hidden recording device (input) before you start Audacity, so for example, if you are recording from a microphone, plug in the microphone before you launch Audacity, then as long as the microphone has been recognised by Windows, it should be available in Audacity.
