editing a saved wav file won't export

I was editing a wav file I already had on my computer... I had to delete parts of the file + all of the silence in the file... when I go to export it, the exporting progress bar fills up, but there is no wav file.. it's not there... it doesn't matter what directory I try to export the wav to or what I name the wav file, Audacity says it exported successfully but it doesn't... no wav file with that name is in the directory, i even tried exporting to a directory with nothing in it, after exporting, the directory is still empty, If I try to overwrite a wav file while trying to export the wav file, it doesn't even ask if I want to replace the file, it still says the file exported successfully, but that one wav file remains untouched... this seems to only happen with wav files already on my computer... can anybody tell me what is going on with this?

Nothing obvious comes to mind. Can you give the specific details:

Which version of Windows,
Which exact version of Audacity (look in "Help menu > About Audacity")
What is the name of the WAV file that you have imported?
What name are you using to export it?
What file type are you exporting it as?
What directory (folder) on what drive are you exporting it to?
Any other details that may help?

Windows 7 ultimate, it's any wav file on my computer, it won't export with any name, any drive, the only thing that works is recording from microphone (or any other recording line) this only happens with wav files currently on the computer,

Audacity 1.3.9 is old. Upgrade to the latest 1.3.13.
