hey everyone
i am new to audacity and am having problems recording audio on my computer. I dont know whats wrong, i have watched tutorial videos and cant figure out whats wrong.
I am using a windows 7
I have realtek high def audio set as my default recorder on my sound options
Under edit/preferences/devices my recorder options are microsoft sound mapper and stereo mix (realtek high def), i have stereo mix selected and on channels im on 1(mono)
on my device toolbar my audio host is mme, my output device is speakers (realtek high def), and my input device is stereo mix (realtek high def), and my input channel is 1
from the tutorials im pretty sure all my settings are correct BUT when i try to record from youtube the line stays solid and the input level moniter doesnt read anything, and of course when i play it back it plays nothing.
i just downloaded and spent the past hour trying to figure it out but im at a dead end.
your help is much appreciated

Exit Audacity, go to the "Recording" tab of "Sound" in the Windows Control Panel, list the disabled devices, enable "stereo mix", make it the Default Device and turn its volume levels up. Instructions are here.

Then choose "Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input" in the Audacity Device Toolbar and set the recording channels to "2 (Stereo)".
