Getting a line in

I have tried to get line in from cassette deck to Audacity 1.3 Beta
I have Windows Vista on a Toshiba Laptop and have tried to use other help on this forum but nothing works :? :?

Most laptops don't have a line-in... just a mic-in, which is not suitable for line level signals...

Read your laptop's manual see if it has a line-in socket.

Otherwise you'll need an external usb converter. Something like this: http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/UCA202.jpg

The small device in the pic between the tape deck and the laptop is a Behringer UCA-202.
Include as much details as you can in your post (Audacity version, Operating System, Equipment used, etc).
Please post your question in the appropriate forum (regarding audacity version and operating system).
