Silence Finder, easy way to count labels?

Hi Everyone,

I'm using the silence detector on a large MP3 file - 300MB. One problem I ran into was trying to figure out how many labels had been created.

I couldn't find an obvious way to do that in Audacity or here on the forums or Wiki.

I've been using "Export Labels" to create a text file, then editing the file to see how many lines it has. This gives me the number of labels all right, but it seems like the long way around. Is there a more straightforward way to determine how many labels were created with the Silence Finder?

Thanks for your time,
Big Al Mintaka

Look at this section of the manual:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Labe ... ls_at_once

Using the menu, choose Tracks > Edit Labels, which brings up a dialog box showing all of your labels; they are numbered.

Arrrrrgggh, I knew it had to be something simple that I was missing somewhere. Thanks, Edgar, that does the trick.

No thanks needed! I have a lot of "paying forward" to do in the way of answering questions--I've asked a lot and always gotten answers here.
