Timeline not moving with playback

I've recently ran into a problem with Audacity in that the timeline no longer moves along during playback, instead the view of my recording sits at the beginning without snapping to the most recently played section.
There's a chance I'm missing something obvious as my knowledge of technical terms isn't the strongest but I could do with a hand fixing this as it's making editing nightmarish.

Look in "Edit menu > Preferences > Tracks"
Ensure that "Update display while playing" is selected (ticked).
