Export Multiple MP3 Tags
With Audacity 1.26 when I did a MP3 multiple export from a vinyl record capture, Audacity would ask me for the Artist, Album, Year, Comment tag info one time. With Audacity 1.35 the program brings up the track label and number but I have to input the rest of the info for every track individually as well. Surely there must be a way to "lock" the tag info in these tag fields so that it is common to all tracks recorded from one LP, but I can't seem to figure it out. Can someone tell me how to do this?

Re: Export Multiple MP3 Tags
Go to Edit > Preferences > Import / Export - and check on the box at the bottom that says Show Metatada Editor prior to export setup - this should have been set on by default in1.3.x - so I'm surprised you don't get it showing.
BTW: you can always bulk update MP3 tags with common data on a set of MP3 Files - just use Windows Explorer, select the files and edit the properties

Re: Export Multiple MP3 Tags
It was set by default and came up as advertised. My problem is that it asks for all the tag metadata for each track individually. For instance if my vinyl LP had 12 tracks I entered 12 labels, when I try to export multiple mp3 the program brings up the metadata edit form which has auto filled the track number and it's label, all the remaining fields are blank. I fill in the blanks, artist, album etc. (which is common info for all the tracks) and say OK. The program then brings up the metadata form for track 2 again track number and label are auto filled but the rest of the form is again blank, this repeats for all the tracks. What I would kike is to be able to somhow "lock" the extra metadata I inputted for track 1 and have it automatically fill this common data for the remaining tracks.
Re: Export Multiple MP3 Tags
I'm having this exact same problem, starting this morning when I installed 1.3 on a fresh install of Vista. I was using 1.3 before I reinstalled and it was fine.

Re: Export Multiple MP3 Tags
QM - I see what you mean now, I haven't experienced this behaviour in 1.3.5 as I have the Metadata Editor turned off (as I found it annoying) - which is why I export my MP3s from an album with the trackname and number applied by the Export Multiple - and then after the Export use Windows Explorer to bulk edit the set of MP3s for an album to apply Album name, date, category etc. (just select all the files for an album and right click to edit the properties, you may need to select the Advanced tab).

Re: Export Multiple MP3 Tags
I normally enter all of the metadata info before doing the Export Multiple. Go to File -> Open Metadata Editor. Put in everything you want except track title and number. Close the dialog. Now when you Export Multiple, the metadata dialog pops up for each track as before, but the data you enter previously, plus the track title and number is seeded into the form. Normally you can just cycle through the dialog for each track without having to type anything, but you can make changes if you want.
I haven't tried editing the properties in Windows as WC mentioned, but I'll have to now to see which way I prefer.

Re: Export Multiple MP3 Tags
I can vouch for that. You can also save the metadata to a file and use it as a template for the next multi-export instead of re-entering the info through the metadata editor.pdxrunner wrote:I normally enter all of the metadata info before doing the Export Multiple. Re: Export Multiple MP3 Tags
Thanks to pdxrunner, and everyone who answered my query, that worked except the year didn't seem to take. I've read elsewhere on this forum that this seems to be an ongoing problem. I use "tagscanner" to do most of my tag editing so I will continue having to use it if I want the year - it also lets you save with the filename format of your choice which in my case is artist - title. To bad audacity didn't have this option.
