Only first track records well

Only the first track records well for me and all subsequent tracks are severely lacking in quality.
I'm assuming that an audio clip will be more informative, so I've attached a tiny little song; words and music by me.
I'm sure I'll need to give more information than this but I'm really clueless, so I'll just answer specific questions.
Thanks in advance.

It's good to hear that you can keep a sense of humour about it :D

The problem is often referred to as "skipping", and is caused by some part of your system being unable to keep up with the audio data.
For skip free recording, the audio data has to get from the sound card to the hard drive as a continuous stream. If there is a bottleneck somewhere, then the stream will be interrupted and will sound like "second track bad".

There a load of suggestions and tips related to this problem here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Troub ... ings#Skips
