Thanks for the assistance some of you provided. I figured out what to do, in order to
create seperate tracks and then burn CDs in the right order from an LP. I found that
the best solution for me was to use Windows Media Player, which allowed me to bring
the track files into a playlist and then import that into a burn list, after I had moved
things as necessary to put the tracks in the correct order.

I may be doing something wrong, but if I am not, there is one small item that would be
nice. Right now, I have unchecked "Show Metadata Editor prior to export Step" and I
find that while this does avoid it popping up as each track is exported, at the same time
I do not have an opportunity to input the album name etc. It would be nice, if this
had an option to force it to display only with the first track, and then take the input
data, album, artist, etc. and apply that to all tracks.

Another function that I cannot find is a way to combine in Audacity, the seperate files
that result from each side of the LP. In NERO there is an "insert file" function in the
editor which allows another file to be inserted wherever one selects the location, in this
case the end of the first file. I find I can do this easily in NERO, save the combined .Wav
file and do the rest of the editing in Audacity.

I might add that I did work around the latter comment I made, by stopping the record process at the
end of the first side, flipping the record, and then turning on record again. This makes a long gap
which is then easily edited out when the tracks are named. Still an ability to insert a file at a
selected point would be helpful.

You can open the Metadata Editor prior to Exporting ( File menu > Open Metadata Editor ).
Enter the information that is common to all files (Album title, Genre, and so on, but not Track title or Track number), then click OK.
Note that very few programs support metadata in WAV files, so adding metadata to WAV files is probably a waste of time.
For burning to CD with Media Player, you should be exporting in WAV format.

There's several options here:
1) "Pause" the recording at the end of the first side, flip the record, then un-pause.
2) "Stop" the recording at the end of the first side, flip the record, then use "Append Record" (Shift+R)
3) Record one side and Export it as a WAV file. Record the other side. Import the first WAV file (it will appear under the track that you have just recorded). Use the "Time Shift Tool" (double headed arrow <-->) to drag one track left/right so that it begins after the other.
4) Record one side and Export it as a WAV file. Record the other side. Import the first WAV file. Select one of the audio tracks (side 2) and use "Edit > Cut" (Ctrl+C). Move to the end of the first track (click on the track then press "K" (or "Edit > Move Cursor > To track end"). Then paste ("Edit > Paste" or Ctrl+V).

Alternatively, you could just edit each side separately and before you use "Export Multiple", create two folders, one for "Side 1" and one for "Side 2". When you compile your CD in your CD burning program, put the Side 1 tracks in first, then the Side 2 tracks.

Personally I find Windows Media Player to be a terrible CD authoring program. I usually recommend CDBurnerXP, which I find to be more versatile, more user friendly, and is free http://cdburnerxp.se/
