Tape2USB II Recording Problems

Post by ALRNC712 » Tue Apr 19, 2011 8:21 pm

I have used the Tape2USB II unit once and made 10-12 successful recordings to CD. I have recently opened it again, doing nothing different than the previous time, and the device is now not recording to my computer. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program. That did not help. I have read through these forums and upgraded my program to 1.3 Beta since I use Vista. That did not help. I switched USB ports. That did not help. I changed the Audio I/O preferences. That did not help. The tape will play on the device but as it is recording to the Audacity program on my computer, there is a "flat line" showing none of the influctions in the music and when I go to play back, there is nothing. It seems to be a connection problem from what I can deduce but I've tried all the suggestions I could find and nothing is correcting it. I feel like there is an obvious step I am missing. As I mentioned, it worked perfectly the first time I used it and I have made no changes to my computer or to any steps that I did the first time. It's terribly frustrating. Thank you so much for any help you can give...it's much appreciated! Have a great evening!

Connect the Tape2USB to your computer before you open Audacity. Allow Windows a few moments to identify and connect to the device before you open Audacity.
Then open Audacity.
Go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" and set the "Recording" device to the USB option.
If you want to hear the recoding through your computer speakers, ensure that the "Playback" device is set to your computer sound card and not the USB option, then click the "OK" button.
To hear the recording through your computer speakers while recording, you will also need to enable "software playthough" which is near the bottom of the "Transport" menu.
