How to mark tracks and create burnable file

Guys,

I am new to this, so I have a basic question.

I am coverting my old LPs to CD using a record player that provides a USB signal. Originally Audacity, and old version,
came with the Grace player, but now running Win-7 I have upgraded to the Beta release. I have no problem recording the
music, and Audacity displays it fine and I have no problem saving it as a .wav or Mp3 file, i.e. exporting.

What I don't know is how do I differentiate the breaks between bands on the LP, so that when I burn a CD (using
Nero-10 Suite) I have a CD with selectable tracks. Since Audacity doesn't burn CDs, I assume there is someway to
transfer the labels, which I have experimented with along with the Audio but HOW?. I admit to being new to the
digital music recording thing, although at 72, I have dealt with computers of many kinds for 40 years.

Please, a nice succinct procedural explanation.

You shouldn't assume that. Music CDs do not carry song titles. The best you can do is Label the front of each song while it's on the timeline and File > Export Multiple. Audacity will create a pile of music files.

Apply the pile to your Music CD Authoring Program, rearrange as needed, and burn.

Windows Media can do this now and iTunes for Windows can, too. Toast can author a disk, etc.

Possibilities are endless.

However, the music on the disk is all labeled Track 01, Track 02, Track 03, etc. When you play a store-bought Music CD in your computer, the computer goes on-line to figure out what the titles are based on the duration and character of the music file. GraceNote is the service that Macs use.

I have personal music CDs that the computer thinks were performed by Duran Duran, so it can get this seriously wrong.

There is a possibility of authoring a non-standard Music CD that can carry text messages, but they're not regular CDs and might not play in your car.

Control-K will place a label in your music. Also, Tracks > Add Label. Don't leave out the first song.

By default, Ctrl+K is "delete".

To create a label while Audacity is stopped, use Ctrl+B
To drop a "marker" label while audacity is playing or recording use Ctrl+M
