amplified bass sound when exporting

Hi. I just downloaded Audacity and am burning some vinyl records to my laptop so I can export them into files to be burned onto cd.

The one thing I cannot get around that every time I try to export it as an MP3 or a WAV, it just seems like the bass is too amplified. Lead guitars sound good, vocals sound good, silence sounds good (silent). When I listen to the song in Audacity, I do not get the amplified bass.
Any suggestions what I can do?

I have Audacity 1.3.13 and the latest version of LAME. My laptop is a Fujitsu Lifebook T2020. I'm running Windows 7.

thanks very much and great software!

How are you playing and listening to that?
How does it sound in Audacity before you Export? And how are you listening to it then?

Thanks steve and everyone at audacity. your product and your resources have great ease of use. and everyone seems very helpful- that's kinda absent in the world these days...

I looked through many posts and tried many things, but ultimately I believe it was this post that helped me fix my problem.

Yes I was listening to the recordings always in Windows Media Player, and yes it has a Graphic EQ (and also the SRS Wow Effects were turned on). As soon as I listened it up in Quicktime, the overamplified bass went away. Alternatively if I turn off Graphic Equalizer and SRS Wow Effects, it sounds fine in Windows Media Player.

Thanks again to all the acoustic heads out there!

You're welcome, and thanks for getting back to us to say that it's now resolved.
