New user here. Trying to slice up an mp3 file to create a ringtone. Using 1.3.13-beta on Windows 7 Home Premium. Saved as .aup project.

Able to mouse-click and drag Selection just fine. I understand Stop button must be pressed before Cut and/or Silence will be active.

Every time I click Stop button my Selection clears. If I just let it play until end my Selection clears.

Please tell this noob what I am doing wrong. Thanks.

You need to "drag select" on an actual track, not on the time ruler at the top.
Drag select on the time ruler is useful if you have a selection (that you don't want to be cleared) but you want to quickly listen to some other part of the track.
