"Not Responding"

Audacity has recently stopped responding to Windows. Every time I try to import an mp3 file, after a lengthy period of "thinking" time, it says "Not Responding". It gives no reason why, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and it's still doing the same thing. All this was done after I restarted my computer. I've had the program for about a month, and it never did this before. This issue just started yesterday, but this is also not a program I use every day, or even every week, for that matter. How can I resolve this issue?

Which Windows? Which version of Audacity exactly?
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program
That's harder than you think. Audacity leaves files around so updates to the program do not make you change all your preferences every time.

Does Audacity open anything else? Pull down the 6 second piano2.wav from here and try to open that.
