FFMPEG - help needed

Post by mrshoppy » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:11 pm

Hi - very much a newbie here, so sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere...

I am a returning user to Audacity, and started to make more recordings (i do mediation/relaxation tracks), but when i wanted to add an audio track, i receive a message about not being ffmpeg (sorry i didn't copy the error message, but can do if it is important).

Im using microsoft Vista on my PC.

I have not had problems in the past - from what i remember i could use mp3 and wav files (wav mainly) and got excellent results.

any help - if you can help me, please can you keep your answer as less-techy as you can.

many thanks in advance.
:P

For importing and exporting some audio file formats such as mp3 you need to have ffmpeg and/or lame installed. You can get both from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows

Scroll down to the optional downloads sections.
Include as much details as you can in your post (Audacity version, Operating System, Equipment used, etc).
Please post your question in the appropriate forum (regarding audacity version and operating system).
