Help with recording please!

Post by genna » Sun Apr 03, 2011 7:20 am

I've used audacity before but it's been a long time since so I forgot pretty much everything. But there was one thing I remember! And that is, I can play a track-- like the instrumental version of a song while recording my vocal record and only record my voice. But when I tried doing that, the new track records the instrumental and my voice. How do I only switch it so that I can record only my voice while still having the instrumental playing so that I have a guide line? @[email protected]

Are you using headphones? Remember your microphone will pick up all the noise in the room, so if you have the instrumentals playing through the speakers, the mic will pick that up too!

I'm using headphones. The only way I can record without recording the preview track is to have everything else on mute ):

You need to set your sound card to record directly from the microphone and not from "Stereo Mix". It's like the oposite of what is described here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... trol_Panel
