Delay effect is now slowing my track down ALOT

hey hows everyone....


this problem JUST started today ..I use audacity all the time and i usually use the delay effect on many of my projects...

just today tho in this track im recording when i go to use the delay effect it slows the ENTIRE clip down ALOT... say if the track is 1:00 when i add the delay to it which is ONLY supposed to give me a little echo and delay.. it stretches th track out to maybe 2 minutes becuz it has slowed it down 100% apparently i REALLY need a solution for this if anybody knows Did i accidentally change a setting that makes it do this ......or....

ill be thankful for any answers that can help me ... thanks....
