directory to install 1.3 on

Hi,
I have Audacity 1.2 installed in program files/audacity but the new download for 1.3 is defaulting to create a new directory called Audacity 1.3 Beta (Unicode). I'm wondering what happens to 1.2 if I accept this new directory instead of installing OVER the old one. Will I have two versions of Audacity on my computer then?

So is it best to install 1.3 to this new directory instead of in the old directory?

Thanks,
RB

I would let the Audacity installer place 1.3 wher it wants to. I would not install it over the 1.2 that you have as this may cause installation/configuration problems.

You can have 1.2 and 1.3 an your PC at the same time, but you cannot run them at the same time. Note that 1.2 projects can be opened and edited in 1.3 but not the other way around - and once you have edited and saved a 1.32 project in 1.3 then it will become a 1.3 project.
