Mic was too close! - need help editing
I just finished doing an important interview shoot for a video I'm working on. After playing the audio back, I realized I had the mic too close and the audio is way too intense. I'm getting what sounds to be like reverb (I think, but i'm an amatuer so don't know if this is the technical term). It almost sounds like vibration when I play the audio clip. What can I do to take that out and tone down the clip? This is a super important project so any help is appreciated.

The bad news is that there is probably very little you can do to rescue the show. When you get overloading of the input, as you have from your description, the tops of the waves in the sound signal get chopped off so they are flat on top instead of round. This is known as clipping, and the damage is usually permanent.
Having said that, there is a tool in Audacity; Effect > ClipFix, which may help if the clipping is not too severe. It tries to reconstruct the parts of the wave which have been removed, but there are no guarantees.

I was able to get it fixed. I started by using the fix clip in audacity. After the fix clip was done rendering I went back and used the compression effect on the clip and viola...the clip sounds servicable now. Thanks for your help.
