Undo mix down channels to WAV or recover corrupt AUP file?

Post by steve » Mon Mar 14, 2011 6:35 pm

I have just started to teach myself audacity, and made some real nice sound files. Then a big problem came. I saved as an audacity file, then exported to WAV but didn't realise I was importing all channels, I thought I was saving them as separate tracks. So when I opened them I heard them all speaking on top of each other. Doh! And when I opened the aduacity file I saved, it was corrupt and was repeating the same sections again and again. Is there any way I can recover the separate channels? I have to get my files to an employer tomorrow (slight winging it on my part) all was going so well : (
Unfortunately I think you've blown it this time :(

If you still had a working Audacity Project then you could have re-exported as separate tracks, either using "File menu > Export Selection" (select one track -> export it, select the next -> export it ....) or by using "Export Multiple" http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Export_Multiple

Without a lot more information and a lot of (time consuming) fault finding I've no idea about what went wrong with your project of if it is possible to recover it, but the chances of recovering the project are not good. (sorry for the bad news)
