Audacity is Silent

Post by chaingunpope » Sat Mar 12, 2011 5:29 am

I have the latest version of Audacity running on Windows 7. I have imported MP3's, .aups, etc. that I use (I run a podcast). For whatever reason, none of them can be heard. I see the waveform, and I can open up and hear the files in every other player, but Audacity is completely silent. All volume and speakers are up, so I really don't see what could be going wrong.

What do you have set in Audacity "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices"?
What other options are available?

I actually managed to fix the problem by downloading the newer beta version, but thank you.

I had the same problem. I went to Edit --> Preferences --> Devices as a previous poster suggested. The selected device was "Realtek Digital Output". My other two choices were "Microsoft Sound Mapper" and "Speakers (Realtek High Definiti". I selected "Speakers (Realtek High Definiti" and no more silence!
