I am using ion turntable with usb connection to hp notebook running vista. i cannot hear any of the vinyl I am trying to record, in fact i cannot seem to record anything at all. The various meter displays dance up and down, back and forth but nothing audible or recoverable happens . I have gone through the forum instructions so i am confident the input and output is ok but where is my music. anyone else have problems with vista? or recording from vinyl? help!

You may discover that you can hear again if you unplug the turntable.
If you have dancing lights during the music, chances are you got a good recording and you can get a nice sound file by just Exporting one. Many USB turntables appear like Sound Devices to Windows and not Generator of Music. Because of that error, I bet your Windows is trying to play the music back to the turntable instead of speakers or headphones.
Unplug the turntable (you may need to restart Windows) to return to normal.
To change it to be correct permanently involves messing in the Windows Control Panels.
