VOB/Ac->ogg..loss of Loudness/volume

Hiya,
I do some on and off extractions from (VOBs) or convertions from ac3 to ogg audio by using the ffmpeg plugins in audacity.
Unfortunately when I am listening to the finished ogg files on my cowon D2 player I always need to
turn up the volume from 5 to 20 which is pain if the following track has a different volume level.
Can someone please point out where I should investigate?
Settings for ogg vorbis are on default by the way. Should I turn up the bitrate?
Or has it something to do with the AC3 48kHz -> downsampling rate?
Thx for any help

Video Objects have theater volume ranges and aren't mixed down to "Popular Music" sound levels. AC3 has provision for explosions and other effects that are enormously louder than the dialog. Unless your software compensates for that, the show may be really low -- certainly compared to that Trance album you bought.

When you have the show on your timeline, you can apply Chris's Compressor and it should boost the volume and even out all the scene to scene variations.

Such as...? What's your reference sound track? What are you shooting for?

To be honest I am bit lost.
When it comes to expressing myself in DB.
Also i don't know how to export your reference file.
Will a screen shoot will be good enough?
Or how do you want me upload the data?
Thx, blub47474
