Blend Playback Volumes

Post by nickb » Fri Feb 25, 2011 10:44 am

I made some live music recordings with a 4 channel stereo tape recorder, and now burning cd's from the tape. My recording levels appear satisfactory at best, but, I would like to (not sure what term to use) blend/average/eliminate volume peaks and valleys, etc etc. so that playback volumes (left and right channel) are blended/uniform. I am new to this. I don't know if I should use Normalizing, Leveler, or Equalization, or something else. Suggestions greatly apprecated. Thank you in advance!!

Do you mean the recording levels on the 4 channel stereo tape recorder, or the levels on the computer copy of the recording?
Have you transferred the recording to your computer yet? If you have, how did you do that?
