I have Audacity 1.2 running on a windows XP at my studio which I|'m using to record my band. I would like to download my files on 16 Gig flash drive, move them to Audacity 1.3 on a Windows 7 system at home to work on (separate tracks, clean up, send to CD)... Is this feasable???? From my limited reading, I understand I would have to move data & aud files..
Iapologise if this has been covered, but I haven' been able to find it...Thank you....

Yes it's possible, but I would highly recommend that you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 first.
The recommended version of Audacity for Vista and Win 7 is Audacity 1.3.12 - there are a lot of strange problems that can occur if you try to use Audacity 1.2.
It is advisable to use Audacity 1.3.12 on both machines.
Audacity 1.3.x can open projects created by Audacity 1.2.x, but Audacity 1.2.x cannot open projects saved by Audacity 1.3.x.
Download Audacity 1.3.12 from here:
http://audacityteam.org/download/
There are a number of bear traps that you could fall into, so here's a work-flow that avoids them:
1) Before you start your project, create a new folder.
2) Create you project.
3) Save the project into the folder that you created in step 1. If you are asked if you want to copy dependent files into the project, say YES.
4)
Check that all dependent files have been copied into the project. To do this, select "Check dependencies" from the File menu. If it prompts you to copy dependent files into the project, say YES. If it says that the project is self contained, then proceed to step 5.
5) Check the size of the folder that you created in step 1. Will it fit onto your flash drive? If yes, proceed to step 6. If no, get a bigger flash drive (there are workarounds if the folder size is only a bit too big, but a larger flash drive is the better solution).
6) Copy the entire folder (created in step 1) and all of its contents onto the flash drive.
7) Copy the folder from the flash drive to the new computer.

Thanks, Steve..
I'll be trying this tomorrow. The computer at the studio has windows XP & no internet access, so it would be difficult to update to V1.3........can XP support it??

Yep, XP runs 1.3.12 just fine, as that's the setup I'm writing to you from right now. It's easy enough to install on your machine -- just download the install file on a computer that does have internet access, toss it on your thumb drive and copy it onto the non-connected machine. The install file has all the necessary parts, and doesn't need to connect to the internet to work.

Great, I'll update after I get the files home to work on ~ much more comfortable here to spend the time I'll need re-learning the editing process. Took me a number of tries to get the balances right between my mini-mixer & recording volume on Audacity so as not to overdrive.............I've still got a stereo glitch between the mixer & the computer but ....... soon come.
