Why is my waveform flat

Post by ndfan » Mon Feb 14, 2011 4:55 am

Hi, I'm brand new to Audacity and not much of a techno expert. I am trying to import some old LPs using an ION USB turntable. I've been able to capture a couple of albums and export them after splitting into tracks and labeling etc. - no problem. However, I tried to record my third LP and the sound waveform in Audacity now appears essentially flat when previously it looked pretty normal (i.e. quite jagged). What changed and why? I've tried all the usual stuff about restarting etc., to no avail. I've gone through the tutorials and since I was able to successfully export 2 LPs, I believe I have all the right settings (I did not change anything before trying LP no. 3). Any guidance would be appreciated! I'm running the beta version of Audacity on Win7. Thanks, Peter
