Can LAME MP3 encoder work with Media Player 12?

Does anyone know if/how any version of LAME MP3 encoder can be made to work with Windows Media Player 12?

It would be a huge time saver to be able to rip CDs directly to VBR#2 MP3s, instead of having to first rip them to WAV files and then run those WAV files through Audacity. Is anyone doing this successfully?

Thanks, JP

Audacity does not rip CDs.
Both C-Dex and Foobar 2000 (both free) are able to rip CDs to MP3.
If you are wanting to edit the files that you have ripped it is better to rip to WAV so as to avoid the sound quality loss of encoding to MP3 twice.
