Delete audacity.cfg Cure-All fix

Thanks for all the help in other threads peoples. One of the fixes mentioned here worked for me today.
I am an experienced Audacity 1.2.6 user. Windows XP. External USB audio in/out through Digitech RP250. Dell Dimension 5150C.
Installed Audacity 1.3.5 today - it ran but did not work.
Click on record button - nothing happens - recording cursor stays at zero.
Some other threads in this forum recommend deleting audacity.cfg for fixing various problems.
(Audacity will create a new config file when run.)
Tried that and it fixed my problem also. Magic.
For safety, I renamed the file C:Documents and Settings<myname>Application DataAudacityaudacity.cfg as "HIDDENaudacity.cfg". (That's just a trick so that audacity cannot recognise the file whilst I still keep the ability to put it back to normal by renaming again.)
Now I can go play with all the fun new features of version 1.3.5 ....
