Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Recording from playing video

Post by colmac » Wed Feb 09, 2011 2:52 pm

Hi wonder if you can help a Newbie please

Running Vista Home Premium with all updates. (I'm very Computer literate, but Audio has me beat!). I have a Soundblaster AudigySE card which has been fine for all I use it for - just playing music through a 2 Dell speakers. Using Beta 1.3.12.

Was trying to record the audio track from a video file and having great difficulty. Eventually connected Line out to Line in as suggested in the Wiki, and it recorded, but I got a double recording with two versions like an echo recorded.

I think I've tried all the possible combinations mention in help files wiki, tutorials etc, without success. I cannot get "Stereo Mix" or any simiar wording to appear. Windows device manager tells me my sound drivers are the latest available.

I have tried all the "vista" extra instructions as well. I've attached some images of the settings available. I hope this is enough info.

Any help welcome, even if only to tell me this card won't support what I'm trying to do.

Thanks

Sound kills more projects and developers than any other problem. If you're at the end of your rope and you've been through all the tutorials and help systems (not all computers support Stereo Mix), then there is only one other option.

I actually have a licence for Total Recorder. Its not installed at the moment, but won't take seconds to do it. I did wonder if that might be the solution!

Thanks anyway
