I can't import from itunes

When I try to import songs from itunes into audacity it tells me
"audacity recognized the type of the file (filename.m4a)
Importers supposeedly supporting files are:
FFmpeg-compatable files,
but none of them understood this format."

I downloaded the FFmpeg library thing but nothing has changed.

There is really no point for me to have this if I can't import my music,
How do I fix this?

If you bought copy protected music from the iTunes store, the only way out is create a playlist and burn the playlist to a Music CD. Then rip the CD. That will also limit you to 78 minutes per CD.

You can also use SoundFlower, but that's a real time transfer. If you have four hours of music, it will take four hours to transfer.

If you did buy copy protected music, you bought a license to listen to it, not do music production.

So, If I was looking to make a music CD of, let's say 10 seconds of 26 songs, how would I use Audacity?

If the original songs were on CD, you would use a CD ripper program to extract the songs as WAV files.
Import the WAV files into Audacity and use the various tools to edit and arrange the songs as required.
Export the final mix as a WAV file.
Use a CD burning application to burn the WAV files to CD as an audio CD (not a data CD).
