half-baked pseudo-stereo simulation?

Program: Analog monaural recording, played into Audacity and digitized as two (almost) identical stereo tracks.

1. Split stereo tracks.

2. Select right channel, & equalize on RIAA curve.

3. Deselect right channel & select left, then equalize on inverse RIAA.

4. Rejoin tracks to stereo.

I have a feeling this could result in a rather weird "wandering" effect in certain circumstances.
