I hope someone can help me out.
Audacity does not start. I have installed the CD I received with a recordplayer 2 days ago and it worked.
Since this morning however it does not. I removed the software and downloaded the latest (same) version but still it will not start up.

Uninstall Audacity and install Audacity 1.3.12
You can get it from here:

Also have a read through this:

If possible, uninstall or remove all existing instances of LAME from your computer. If you have other programs that are using their own version of lame.dll, temporarily rename the .dll file (for example, add ".bak" to the file name - you can change this back later, so make a note of what you change).
Download
Lame_v3.98.3_for_Audacity_on_Windows.exe from here:
http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/
Follow the instructions (carefully and exactly) here:

Steve, I am really getting crazy and hope you can help me out.
My dvd/cd does not function anymore. I have tried to burn some music and that did work last week, but ater I restartet the notebook last week it does not see any disks anymore, no CD/no DvD no Software nothing.
I have a strong feeling that the installation of the new software ruined my hardware.
I have tried to uninstall drivers, dvd player and reinstall it. I sees it in the hardware list, but the player does not see any CD's anymore.
Can you help me out again?

Does the CD drive show up in "My Computer"?
Does the CD drive show up in the Device Manager?
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windowsvi ... mvista.htm
Is the Device Manager indicating any errors?
Are you getting any error messages anywhere?

Hai Steve,
Yes it shows as well in my computer as in device manager. Strange thing that I never noted before, the hardware description is CD-rom Station. I can not remember seeint that. I thought it always was Dvd-/cd-rom station.
The only error I have seen tonight is in Driver Whiz with Error 1327 that leads to
http://na7.salesforce.com/_ui/selfservi ... 000000LaBW
As this did not help me, I posted a message and the reply was to delete lowerfilters in regedit (upperfilters was not in). Also this did not change a bit.
The moment I click on the the device in my computer, the popup screen appears that I need to load a CD.
Of course the thing might have died, but before I have to bring my notebook away for weeks repair, I must be sure. I can not miss it.

"Error 1327" is only part of a Windows error message.
The full message should be: "Error 1327. Invalid Drive" and then the drive letter for the "missing" drive.
The problem usually occurs when Windows gets mixed up about which drive is which and tries to find data on a drive that does not exist.

When you click on what exactly?
Have you tried rolling back Vista to an earlier restore point?

thanks for the quick reaction.
I click in My computer on Dvd-rw- station (f:)
It has always been F as I have C, D, E (recovery) en F for Dvd station.
I am glad you asked about the restore point. This means that I am not so blond as I thought.
I have tried to restore to 3 earlier points but stopped the attempts as the recovery ended after start up with an error message (sorry, forgot about that message).
