Vocal Remover

Post by guusb » Mon Feb 07, 2011 6:25 pm

He there...

I have a problem...

I've tried to remove some vocals out of a song, but instead of that the opposite happens...
the instruments are gone and the vocals stays...

what could this be?

Thanx!

The "Vocal Remover" removes anything that is panned dead centre of a stereo mix. As the lead vocals are often panned dead centre with other instruments panned left and right the effect will often remove the lead vocal, leaving the other instruments relatively intact. However, if the other instruments are panned dead centre, then they will be removed.

A more accurate name for the effect would be "Centre Pan Remover".

Thanx...

maybe a stupid question, but is there some way that I can turn that around, like putting the instruments to the left & right and vocals to the centre?

Only if you have the original multi-track recording, but then you would be able to just mute the vocal track.
