Timed recording

Post by MarkDuffy » Thu Feb 03, 2011 2:20 pm

Hi

I am new to this forum. I have been using Audacity for a long time to record Radio discussions which I index and can refer to later. I am not sure Audacity can do all I want but more that likely there are other users, more competent than I am and have build a solution.

I enjoy listening to Pod casts. I enjoy them on my iPhone 3G which is not multitasking. On-line is not reliable. I want to be able to download the podcasts and load them as a list of recordings. Then play them from the HD. And for this to be automated. I was given this iPhone. I would not get Apple in favour of Android. I am not familiar with the awkward way Apple works its files.

My requirement is to be able to
Make a list podcasts.
Be able to set the recording times for multiple events in a week calendar. ( I have just started to test the times in Audacity and will use it for Radio)
Have the system record/download as set.
Be able to download in the back ground, without sound.
Have a play list that I can dump on my portable device and play on the go.
Be able to delete move individual podcasts.

This is the way it is for music but does not seem to be the way with podcasts as they have to be played.

Any comments on this would be great.
I am sure that what I want is dead easy for someone out there.

Thanks
Jacky

Many PodCasts are available for direct download as a file. Have you checked to see if the PodCasts that you want can be downloaded (rather than just played)?
Also, check out http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/

The questions about play-lists depend on how phone/playback device handles play lists so I can't help you with that. Check out the manual for the device.
