Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

co-exist with Audacity 1.2

can 1.3.12 beta coexist with 1.2? I've installed 1.3.12. How can I install 1.2 for parallel test to audio files?

Yes you can have both on your PC at the same time - but you cannot run both at the same time.

Note carefully that while 1.2 projects can be opened in 1.3, you cannot do this the other way around. If you do have a 1.3 project that you want to run in 1.2 then you can export a WAV (lossless) file from 1.3 and import that into 1.2

Just out of interest: why are you bothering with 1.2 v. 1.3 comparisons? 1.2.6 is now ancient software, it has not been updated or bug-fixed for a very long time. It doesn't even run (or run properly) on a lot of modern computers.

Previously I came across opening a file with weird left and right channel in 1.3, and that's why I think about 1.2. But now I've just tried other audio editor and the condition of the opened audio file is the same as 1.3. I thought I won't try 1.2 again. Thank you.
