I have Audacity installed on one computer, and use the "Apply Chain" to convert from VOX to MP3 format. However I have installed 1.3 on a new computer and the lame.dll, however when I try to Apply Chain and select the VOX files, Audacity now says that VOX is an unrecognised file format and to import as RAW, however when I do this I can only import and convert one file at a time.
Can anyone help? I don't understand why it works fine on one computer but not on the other.
Audacity not recognising VOX

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: Audacity not recognising VOX
Did you try installing the FFMpeg software? That's the grab-bag software that will manage many different sound file formats. Get it from the same place you got your Audacity.

Re: Audacity not recognising VOX
I have installed the FFMpeg software, and still have the same issue, trying to open a vox file using Audacity results in a message saying that Audacity doesn't recognise files of type VOX
Re: Audacity not recognising VOX
VOX files are often "headerless Dialogic ADPCM" format. To import this type of file you need to use "File menu > Import > Raw Data" then select "VOX ADPCM" as the "Encoding". The other settings may require some trial and error unless you already know the exact format of the files. ("Headerless" means that the file does not contain information to tell the decoder what format the file is).

Re: Audacity not recognising VOX
The issue is that the "Apply Chain" process works fine on one computer, just not on the other, which gives the "not recognised" message. I can't understand why it works fine on one and not the other.
