The Audacity settings in the Transport menu appear to be correct.

Try going to Audacity "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices".
In the Recording section, is there an option for "Microphone"? If there is, try that. If not, what options are available?

It would help if you had Creative Mixer installed but there appears to be something wrong with the installation of the sound card software.
If you have the sound card installation disk, try running it to reinstall the sound card and the Creative Mixer.
If you don't have the disk, check on the Creative Labs web site to find the software for your sound card. Ensure that you get the exact right model and operating system.

Well, Steve, i did all you said and then noticed............it said my recording device was my Logitech M9000 web cam....
Before i hooked up the Labtech i was using JUST the webcam mic, got the same "flanged" sound.....then, adding the Labtech, it was the fact that i had two mics recording.
I just unplugged the webcam and all is well, just using the Labtech, perfect signal and the guitar sounds great now!
Mmm, i thought i had tried all permutations, but, well, with a 63 yr old memory, who knows?? lol
Sorry to have wasted so much of your time.
Feel like saying "DOH" Thanks again, Ray (Eso)
