No recording device

I am running on a vista computer. i had the same problem with the 1.2 audacity. in the devices menu under recording devices it says none found. in device manager under sound i show...intel(r) high definition hdmi and Realtek high definition audio. there is also a icon in the task bar for realtek audio manager. any ideas?
