when using Window XP, the qualities of the sound is closed to CD. I Enclosed another sound file using XP with desktop that I recorded it from youtube. If to compare this record from the previous soud file that recorded using WIndow 7, the qualities is far from the sound file record using Window XP.

For details of the previous sound file record with Window 7 , I use the default Audacity setting to record streaming from youtube.
For the latest enclosed sound file recorded with Window XP also using the default Audacity setting to record streaming from youtube. I just copy and paste for the repeated beginning sound twice to make for ring tone.

Please advice. Hope to hear from you soon.

My guess is that the first file (test1.mp3) has been recorded from the laptop microphone and not from "Stereo Mix".

Like others user those who in Window 7 OS, I can only find "Master" available in Audacity. For my laptop that equip with Realtek High Definition Audio soundcard , there is no other options. Is it the possible to call out "Stereo Mixer" option? Even I record play from direct CD drive, the result is the same. Any alteration can do about it? I've no idea for other user whether their record quality result is consider acceptable! I can say that if using my desktop Audacity with XP os to record any sound source and burn to cd, the quality is closed to CD.

Fellow Audacity user, any experienced can share? If possible please attach your recorded sound file to compare for my previous enclosed sound file.
Appreciate for comments.

Microsoft are making it increasingly difficult to record "Stereo Mix". You may need to enable Stereo Mix in the Windows Control Panel (see here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... trol_Panel ).
If you have a Realtek High Definition control panel (look in the bottom right corner of the desktop near the time/date for a sound card icon) you may need to enable and select Stereo Mix there.

To test if your set-up is currently recording from the microphone, make a loud noise while Audacity is recording (or if you know where the in-built microphone is located you can tap it). Note that if you have an additional web-cam connected, that may also have a microphone built into it.

If the sound card and sound card drivers support Stereo Mix on Windows 7, the results should be as good as for Windows XP.

There is only 2 option in my Recording tab in Sound, 1 is Micophone & the other 1 is Stereo Mix. Currently is set to "Stereo Mix & is Enable. I try your suggestion to make a loud sound when recoding to see whether is captured, result is the purposly created loud sound is not capture. So I'm pretty sure that the microphone is at disable mode. You mention that the web cam can be the source of microphone, is it activate only when this application is using? I'm resign to it if the mobo sound system is bult to restrict in this way. But in Audacity recording source, only Master is available. Is it the same for other PC install with Window 7 os?
