Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

I can't record from my sound card

Post by atbsiow » Sun Jan 23, 2011 1:53 am

I've got a new Sony Vaio with the latest Windows 7 and a Realtek High Definition sound card + Audacity 1.3.12-beta. In the Audacity record drop-down box the only option I have is "Master" (on my old Windows 7 I had line-in / mic / sereo mix etc etc options). I've tried altering Audacity Preferences to "Microsoft Sound Mapper - input / output" and "Show Disabled Devices" on Windows Sound / Recording tab. I've followed a tutorial on YouTube (guaranteed to work) to the letter....but it still doesn't work, coming up with the error message "no input device" ! I've also tried it disabling the internal mic. Can any one help ?

If you tried all the usual suspects and it didn't help, then your only option may be money-based software..

Nowhere is it written that computers have to supply Mix-Out and the newer ones don't.
