I am new to this system, but have audacity 1.3.12 and now I have windows 7, audacity doesn't recognize my microphone device???

Windows 7 on what kind of computer? Dell Inspiron laptop? Lenovo A6?
I'm reading the thread again. What kind of microphone do you have? Company and model numbers go a long way for us.
