E-MU PCI No input to Audacity

I'm running WIN 7, and I read the following;
"Windows Vista or 7: The dropdown selector is always greyed out. Choose the specific input source/recording device combination required on the same tab of Preferences (for example, "Microphone: Realtek High Definition Device") then turn up the input level in Mixer Toolbar. Note: By default, Vista/7 only enable the microphone input. You must exit Audacity, then go to Sound in the Windows Control Panel to show and enable other inputs before you can record from them"

I have the source as my mic through my Yamaha MG10/2 mixer into my E-MU 0404 sound card. Audacity Devices is set for;
Host: Windows Direct Sound or MME 9 (neither works)
Playback: Speakers (E-MU E-DSP)
Recording : Wave (E-MU E-DSP)
1-Mono

The E-MU Patchmix Interface responds nicely and I can here my vocals through the stereo speakers attached to the E-MU outs as long as I have the E-MU set in Windows Sound as the playback Default, but no response from Audacity from my mic whether E_MU is set as default or not.
Does this sound like an E-MU to computer problem?
I believe that I downloaded the latest driver for WIN 7 and E_MU 0404.

The default drivers for the EMU 0404 are ASIO drivers, but due to licensing restrictions Audacity cannot be shipped with ASIO support, so it requires Windows drivers (WDM).
Ensure that you have the Windows drivers installed for the sound card as well as the ASIO drivers.

Is the EMU sound card listed as a recording device in the Windows Control Panel?
Check that you have the same sample rate and bit depth set for the device in both the Windows Control Panel and in Audacity "Preferences > Quality tab".
Try setting it for "CD Quality" 44100Hz, 16 bit stereo.
If that does not work, try 48 kHz

The Windows drivers will probably only support basic functionality and not the full feature set of the device.

Error Win 7 with E-MU 0404 PCI card

I'm using an E-MU PCI 0404 card and though my Win 7 sees the card as does Audacity, Audacity gets no signal no matter what input I switch to. MME Wave(E-MU E-DSP), Windows Directsound Wave (E-MU E-DSP). In fact, I get the "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate", if I try to record with anything other than Windows Directsound; Microphone (High Def Audio Device) and even then no signal is picked up in Audacity. As the E-MU works fine when I send voice signals through it from my mic--->Yamaha MG10/2 mixer--->E-MU PCI soundcard--->amplifier and speakers, is this an Audacity--Win 7 problem?

Thanks all...

Go into the emu patchmix panel and change the session setting from 44.1 to 48. Audacity was then able to see the input when I did that.
