I have a recording problem in windows 7 when recording with audacity in xp and vista it was fine but now when I record the blue wav thingy will be displayed at the top part of the preview window mainly in the 1.0 and it goes lower when decreasing microphone volume. also, the volume is low even when I shout...

My guess is that either your sound card is faulty, or there is a serious problem with the sound card drivers.
Check to see if updated drivers are available. Sound cards rarely work with drivers designed for earlier versions of Windows, so ensure that you get Windows 7 drivers.
