Yes, that looks perfectly normal.
You win.

Re: Line in Overload
Hi All,
Steve:
The latest recording with the attenuator reversed sounds good so far. Quiet bits also seem ok so far. I am going to do some more tests before I start cleaning off the vinyl collection. I think I may have lost a little of the trebble with the attenuator in use but more tests tomorrow as my wife says she will freak out if she hears Dr Hook's ''Little bit more'' one more time! Now thats given my age away...Interesting what you say about DC offset I will look into that. I am afraid that the basic mic was indeed too close to the lips as you quite rightly say.
Koz:
Win? It makes a change I can tell you - but time will tell. Meantime I will do some more delving into Win 7. I have ''Win 7 The missing Manual'' by David Pogue which I am ploughing through - very useful.
Thank you both for the info on the sound cards - will check them out and see what the budget can run to. You have all come up with some interesting lines of thought and merely following these ideas down different tracks has been a good learning curve. Cheers

Re: Line in Overload
Sorry delay in posting results. Unfortunately life and less interesting things got in the way of the fun stuff!
I have now burned 5 CD's of audio converted from vinyl. Each LP was recorded with audacity and then filters applied to remove click and pops. Then the tracks were exported as multiple .wav's using labels to separate each. They were burned to disc with ImgBurn (Free) or Nero 10 (trial!). The end CD'S make pleasant and easy listening and I am happy with the results.
I am still looking for a replacement sound card with 64 bit drivers ...but for now the Sound max is holding up. I will post again at some time in the future to say if the new card allows me to record without the attenuator in circuit.
Thanks once again - Dave
