Hello,
My cable has some commercial free music channels. Is there a way i can record these songs and then burn them onto cd's?

Thanks,

I tried to record some "old time radio shows" (Green Hornet, Shadow, etc.) that was broadcast over internet radio. This was some time ago however. I started Audacity, made sure it was recording from my sound card, went to the internet site and started the show, started Audacity recording and everything went great.

I recorded 2 shows on a RW CD, but several of my ordinary cd players don't play RW, so you might have to burn a CD-R to play in most players.

Regards, Pat

Two things need to happen. Your Windows machine needs to have a stereo Line-In connection which a great many Laptops don't, and the "TV Set" needs to have the audio available as separate sound cables -- usually red and white RCA connectors. If you don't have both of those conditions, then probably no.

Large Deskside Windows machines and most Macs have Stereo Line-In and can be used for this job. Laptops generally have Mono Mic-In (microphone) and won't work for this job.

Modern Cable systems send everything, picture and sound over the HDMI connection and the sound never becomes available for you to mess with -- on purpose, of course.
