Instrumental records over into the vocals channel

Hello,

When playing an instrumental through my mixer and recording vocals over it, i have the problem of the instrumental recording into the vocals channel (that is, the beat would be in channel 1 and when i press record, the beat automatically re-records itself into channel 2). but if i take my headphones out of the mixer and plug it directly into my computer jack, this problem does not persist. i remember having this problem in 1.2 a long time ago, but just cannot figure out how to fix it. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

It sounds like you may have a feedback loop through your mixer.
Check carefully the path that is being taken through the mixer and ensure that the computer output is not being routed back into the computer input.
