Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Input Channels Question/problem

Post by moyie » Wed Nov 11, 2009 5:27 pm

I am having the same input problem. I had no problems running Audacity with Win XP. Since upgrading to Windows 7 my input window is blank. If I right click the speaker I do not have a "Adjust audio properties" option. I tried both Audacity 12 and 13. Help please.

See here (this is about Vista, but Windows 7 should be similar) http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... ng_sources

Window 7 does appear to be different. I downloaded Audacity 13 to my laptop running Win 7 with the same result. Guess I will have to wait until a more compatible version of Audacity is written.
Thanks for trying to help.

What you need to do is read the link Steve gave:
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... ng_sources

If you use the latest Beta 1.3.12, Audacity should for (most sound devices) detect the mic. All other inputs are hidden by Windows until you enable them in "Sound" in the Windows Control Panel. If Audacity doesn't list any inputs, go to Sound and enable all the ones you may want to record from.
