Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Audacity hangs on Windows 7

Post by calzoncillos1010 » Thu Dec 30, 2010 7:06 am

Hi All,

I have a new PC with Windows 7 and 64 bit. I downloaded Audacity 1.3.X but when I went to set Preferences it hangs up saying the program "Stopped Working". So I have to close it... How Can I fix this ?

Also Which audio do I use ? ie What is the best audio - MME High Def or IDT High Def CODEC? Is one any better than the other or should I be using a different audio altogether?

Please advise me

Could you check the exact version number (look in "Help menu > About Audacity")
If it is not Audacity 1.3.12, download Audacity 1.3.12 (for Windows 2000/XP/Vista) from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows

If you still have a problem, check through the items here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Windows_7_OS
